Shore Power at the Port

B5.13 Shore power at the Port
Provide shore power to ships at the Port, so they don’t need to run their engines to provide power on board while they are docked here.

The Port’s Citizens’ Advisory Committee was asked to do a report about this issue. They concluded that few of the ships that dock here are capable of using it, and that developing it was unlikely to attract ships that would. (There’s reportedly also a report on the issue by some visiting German professionals.)

The State recently made $3,600,000 of the VW Settlement money available for grants to develop shore power at ports. (However, the chances of our port getting one of these are very small.)
