Don’t wait for the state! Collaborate among the four participating jurisdictions, including possibly coordinated taxation.
The Legal Pathways to Deep Decarbonization project provides model codes for all sorts of steps jurisdictions can take to reduce their carbon footprints.
Hire shared staff for a few specialized positions, such as a certified green building inspector to work with contractors on implementing the code, and/or one person to provide a required green building consultation as as part of the permitting process for all the jurisdictions.
Plan and locate chargers for heavy duty vehicles so at least some of them can be shared by Intercity Transit buses, school buses, Port equipment, and jurisdictions’ vehicles.
