A2.4 Soil carbon research
Fund/encourage regional soil carbon sequestration research to encourage adoption of region-specific conservation farming practices that store carbon.
The USDA’s Northwest Climate Hub “delivers science-based knowledge and practical information to farmers, ranchers, forest landowners, and Native American tribes that will help them to adapt to climate change”. Their web site provides resources for many topics, including soil health management, and they have a monthly newsletter.
The USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service now has a soil health initiative.
WSU’s Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources carries on research into a range of topics in sustainable agriculture including soil carbon sequestration and provides link to resources.
