The emissions associated with the goods and services we buy and use are not included in the current Climate Plan’s inventory or targets, except for on-road emissions inside the county from delivering stuff. (According to the Union of Concerned Scientists’ Cooler Smarter: Practical Steps for Low-Carbon Living, the emissions we aren’t counting are roughly 26% of an average American household’s carbon footprint; however, our inventory does include the emissions from water and waste – 9% of their breakdown.)
