B3.1 Community solar
Support the development and expansion of a community solar program.
Olympia Community Solar has completed a 100 kW project on the roof of the Hands On Children’s Museum, in collaboration with the Museum and the City, and a 71 kW project on the Farmers’ Market. It is currently seeking community members as participants in a project on Marshall Middle School.
It collaborated with Rep. Sharon Shewmake to develop a community solar bill adopted in the 2022 session. (It included an initial incentive payment to projects with sufficient low-income participants, and a provision to pay participants in projects for the power produced.)
