B2.13 Assess code compliance
The City Energy Project provides a comprehensive method and materials that cities can use to assess the degree to which new buildings are actually complying with the code in place.
A 2020 study for the Northwest Energy Alliance inspected 184 residential construction sites around the state to assess code compliance, and estimates that non-compliance as observed in as-built homes results in 4.5% more energy use than if all homes were built to comply with code.
